About The Brand
Crus is a Latin word meaning to cross, intersect or branch off in pairs like “legs”. There are several crura in the body, including the brain. There, the crus refers to structures involved in pleasure sensations, like the crus cerebri. These structures are part of the neural circuits responsible for processing and rewarding stimuli and mediating feelings of pleasure.
Shona to begin expressing herself creatively again after an awakening to the crus' in the body during a full body dissection class.
“Spending most of my weekends at our lake house has shifted my relationship with time. Every night the sunset casts a magnificent hue laced in a golden landscape against the water reflecting the hills. Shadows become like shape shifters as twilight reaches down to ground us to the rocks, water, and dirt.
Rise, Twilight, and Sunset are seamless threads that gently weave us through a phenomenal shift. Everything changes, everything leaves impressions.
The Crus collections are about impermanence and imperfection. Like how spectrums of light reflect the atmosphere. It’s enough for someone not to notice, unless they can elevate, transcend gravity and step out of the mundane. Each day is bigger than the year as a whole.
Each piece is created to reflect an aspect of natural phenomena that moves me in a sublime way. For instance, Shona says, "the necklace I am wearing right now was inspired by our sunsets during distant sand storms. It’s freeform mixed small roundel sapphires and tourmaline express stone fruit colors. Imagine capturing the way it subtly changes throughout the year."
